All-you-can-eat pancakes? Yes, and art – this Thursday!

Since its founding in 2009, the Pancakes and Booze art show has visited more than 20 cities across North America, including Vancouver. Now, the underground pop-up is returning this Thursday, July 14, with more art, bodypainting and pancakes at Fortune Sound Club (147 E. Pender St).

As the title implies, the show is a chance to see some art while eating pancakes (and drinking booze, if you’re so inclined). Typically, the events also include a live art battle, audio and visual performances, and an an all-you-can-eat pancake bar. The idea is for local artists to “showcase their talent without the politics & stuffiness that is commonly found in traditional galleries,” say organizers.

According to the event’s Facebook page, over 50 artists will showcase their work. The event also features body painting and performances by rapper Timothy Ross and DJ Skylar Love, among others TBA.

Brinko Disaster's Boba Fete will be on display at the Vancouver Pancakes and Booze Art Show this Thursday night.

According to founder Tom Kirlin, the show’s popularity “has a lot to do with the cities and artists involved, and its main source of growth has been word-of-mouth and social media.” Five dollars gets you in the door, and all the pancakes you can eat. And, Kirlin said in an interview with Denver’s Crave Magazine, “They’re not just regular pancakes either. They’re awesome, and they’re all made to order from scratch.”

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show goes ’til 12 a.m. Ages 19+.
