The Capilano Suspension Bridge is no secret to Vancouver’s visitors, topping the list of most-visited attractions in BC. Since 1889, the site has been a popular destination for adventurous explorers looking to teeter across the world-famous swinging bridge that dangles 230 feet (70m) above the Capilano River.

Millions have made the trek across the suspended bridge since its inception, for both the exhilaration of dangling so high above the forest floor, and the bragging rights that come with making it to the other side. But in the past 12 years, the 27-acre park has evolved from a stop on the road, to an all-day destination attraction drawing visitors from around the world – and not just for the awe-inspiring bridge.

Here are just 5 of the exciting things to do (besides cross the bridge) at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.

1) Tiptoe Along The Treetops Adventure

Built in 2004, the Treetops Adventure was the first attraction of its kind in North America.  The epic treehouse-like structure features 7 suspension bridges that sway up to 110 feet above the ground, interconnected by tree-topping platforms that will induce childhood summertime flashbacks as you hop along the treetops, soaking in the squirrel’s eye view that sits below.

2) Brave The Cliffwalk

The newest addition to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park trifecta of top attractions, the Cliffwalk rivals the suspension bridge when it comes to soaring to new, heart-racing heights. Built in 2011, the Cliffwalk features a narrow walkway that juts out from the face of a granite cliff perched high above the Capilano canyon. If the dizzying distance from your feet to the ground doesn’t make your heart skip a beat, then the glass-floored platforms are sure to do the trick.

3) Visit Raptors Ridge Birds Of Prey

Catch your breath and enjoy a visit with nature’s most beautiful birds of prey. Listen on as the knowledgable and friendly handlers show off Lanner Falcons, Red-Tailed Hawks and Grey Horned Owls – raptors that are usually far out of sight as they soar above the trees.

4) Snack On Beaver Balls

Yes, you read that right. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is the only place where you can try this sweet, very-Canadian treat. Pop into Dr. Woods Cabin for a coffee and a delicious cup of mini pancakes drizzled in sweet Canadian maple syrup, and sprinkled with icing sugar. Don’t worry though, no beavers were harmed in the making of this delicious snack. If you’re looking for something more substantial, the park offers 6 different dining options to satisfy your cravings.

5) Stroll Along Nature’s Edge Walk

If you want to explore Capilano Suspension Bridge Park at a slower pace, enjoy a stroll along the beautiful winding boardwalk that weaves through the forest, past Trout Pond and under the suspension bridges of Treetops Adventure.

With so much to see and do, and new features added regularly, the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a must-visit destination – whether you’re a North Vancouver local, or a first-time Vancouver visitor.
