Written by Brianna Prasloski

You scream, I scream, we all scream for Vancouver’s killer ice cream scene! From creamy liquid nitrogen ice cream, to exotic gelato flavours like dandelion, curry, and wasabi, Vancouverites and visitors alike can’t get enough of this frosty treat. As the weather heats up this summer, cool down with a sweet treat at one of these Vancouver ice cream shops.

Mister (1141 Mainland Street). Mister uses liquid nitrogen to give their artisanal ice cream an extra creamy and dense texture. Try the double oreo, one of their mainstay flavours and a favourite of superstar Adele.

Rain or Shine (#102 – 1926 West 4th Avenue). Using locally sourced, seasonal and organic product, Rain or Shine scoops up mouth-watering flavours like Honey Lavender and Blueberry Balsamic.

Earnest Ice Cream (multiple locations). Earnest makes small batch ice cream in East Vancouver, with flavours like Matcha Green Tea and Whiskey Hazelnut. Grab a cone or skip the line and take a pint to go.

Umaluma (235 East Pender Street). Vegans rejoice! Umaluma’s organic, dairy-free, plant-based gelato is healthy and spoon-lickingly tasty. Try unique flavours like Mojito Magik and Mahalo Macadamia Chocolate.

La Casa Gelato (1033 Venables Street) Serving 238 flavours, La Casa Gelato is like Disneyland for gelato lovers. Try quirky flavours like spicy mango, garlic or durian, or go with a classic chocolate or vanilla. Deciding what flavour to choose is the hardest part.

La Glace (2785 West 16th Avenue). La Glace dishes up hand crafted French style ice cream and pastries in an Instagram-worthy art deco inspired parlour. Ooh la la!

Soft Peaks (25 Alexander Street). Get your soft serve fix at Soft Peaks, made with organic milk and topped with delicious ingredients like honeycomb, Tim Tam flakes, or Himalayan pink salt.

Beta5 (413 Industrial Avenue). Everyone knows the best sandwiches are the ones made of ice cream. Beta5’s Opera Ice Cream Sandwich is filled with chocolate and coffee ice cream with almond macarons on the outside and dipped in chocolate – heavenly!

Bella Gelateria (1001 West Cordova Street). For award-winning, authentic hand-made Italian gelato, head to Bella Gelateria.

Perverted (797 Thurlow). This cheeky new shop serves up ice cream with a twist, with flavours like “Puppy Dog Tails”: cream and chocolate swirl, root beer, pretzel, bacon bits and chocolate swizzle.
