Yoga+beer! And other goings-on at Vancouver craft breweries in September

It’s back-to-school time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do a yoga class and drink a beer immediately after. In fact, it’s imperative.

Well, don’t worry; Faculty Brewing Co. has you covered.

Après Om is a weekly yoga-and-beer event held at the brewery on Saturday mornings. You can find out more about Après Om below, along with a few other special events hosted by other Vancouver craft breweries this month.

Après Om—Believe it: Faculty Brewing is hosting Saturday morning yoga classes. Included in the price of the class (about $18 w/ tax) is a beer (or glass of kombucha). Proceeds go to help fund nascent yogis on their path to transcendence (that is, instructorhood). Doors at 9:15 a.m., class at 9:30. Get your tickets at eventbrite.com.

Storm’s Anniversary Loading Dock Party (Sept 23, 1-7 p.m., 310 Commercial Dr.)—East Vancouver’s oldest craft brewery celebrates another momentous anniversary (hey, when you’ve been brewing beer since 1994, every anniversary is momentous) with a party on its loading dock. Storm isn’t your conventional craft brewery, so leave your expectations at the door—except for expectations of some unique and tasty brews.

The Hop Devil Hootenanny at Strange Fellows (Sept 22, 5-11 p.m., no cover)—The  East Van brewer says that the Hootenanny is inspired by the Belgian Hopduvel (a personification of a storm that could destroy unharvested hop fields) and the British Corn Mother (decorative shapes woven by Celtic pagans for the crop’s spirit to inhabit over the winter) traditions. The Hootenanny features “hoppy beers, FREE corn on the cob, and music and dancing courtesy of Professor Banjo, all presided over by the Hop Devil himself,” according to Strange Fellows (1345 Clark Dr.). Meanwhile, all this month the brewery’s Charles Clark art gallery is showing a series of work by Kelly Baker, called Girls Girls Girls. The reception is Sept. 13 7-9 p.m.

Art by Kelly Baker is on display at Strange Fellows until Sept. 29.

Laughs at Luppolo—Local comic Kyle Bottom hosts Laughs at Luppolo, a monthly stand-up comedy showcase at Luppolo Brewing Company (1123 Venables). The next one is Sept 27 from 8-10 p.m.
