Mark your calendars! Next Friday, June 7, is National Donut Day! As if you need any more excuses to buy a big batch of freshly cooked donuts!

Need a bit of direction on where to splurge on some delightfully delicious treats? Check out the list below for the top 5 places to eat your way through National Donut Day!

Lee’s Donuts in Granville Island

A trip in the artsy wonderland of Granville Island wouldn’t be complete without a food stop at Lee’s Donuts. Known for their honey dip, but with plenty of other options to keep you wanting more, this mini donut shop also boasts a massive fritter that is about as big as a hand.

Buy a box and enjoy them in front of the waterfront – but, watch out for dive bombing seagulls!

Honey’s Doughnuts in Deep Cove

The tradition in Deep Cove is to get a little sweaty doing the Quarry Rock hiking trail before stuffing your face with a deep-fried ball of dough from Honey’s Donuts.

Honestly, these donuts are a little overwhelming and will sit like a lump in your stomach, so it’s probably best to share. Or, just do the hike and get back in your car / on the bus and head to Harmony’s Donuts in upper Lonsdale for a nicer treat. (Although, with much more limited hours.)

Iconic Duffin’s Donuts

The people-watching experience is one of the best in this timeless and iconic Vancouver staple. Not to mention, the excellent donuts. They are affordable and delicious with many classic flavours to choose from. One of the best options is the original glazed donut, taken home and microwaved for a few seconds until it’s melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

100% Vegan Dipped Doughnuts

Amazing donuts that just happen to be 100% plant-based! Dipped donuts don’t have a storefront but are sold at various vendors across Vancouver. Or, if you want a bigger order, you can also get fresh donuts delivered right to your door if you’re located in the delivery area.

Flavours include “Girl Guide” (with toasted coconut and salted caramel sauce), creamsicle, matcha, double bubble, lemon gusher, and many more!

Try a funky flavour

Peanut butter and jelly, London fog, bacon doughnuts and more. The craft donut shops and doughnuteries in Vancouver are well known for their fantastic flavour creations. Head to one of these shops on Main Street or in Kitsilano to try a new flavour – it’ll be a fun quest for your next favourite donut in Vancouver.

Donuts not your thing? In that case, why not:

Spring for a deliciously delectable french croissant at Beaucoup Bakery

Tuck into some wickedly tasty waffles at Medina Cafe

Cheat on your diet with a massive platter of pancakes at the Jam Cafe
