With its stunning views and milder weather, Vancouver is a runner’s city all year round—particularly in autumn. And whether you’re looking to run off this year’s turkey dinner(s) and pumpkin spice lattes, or are running for a good cause or to spend quality time with friends, there’s a run for you! Dash your way through October at these Vancouver running events!

 

Butterfly Run (Oct 5)

The Butterfly Run Vancouver is a memorial run/walk in support of individuals and families in Greater Vancouver who have experienced a loss during pregnancy, the loss of a child, pregnancy after loss, or are unable to conceive. The 5k/2k run or walk starts at Creekside Community Centre and returns back full circle for a family friendly post-event. All proceeds go towards BC Women’s Hospital and supporting programs. CIBC Run for the Cure (Oct 6)

Run or walk on Sunday, October 6, 2019 for the CIBC Run for the Cure in Vancouver. Whether it’s your first time, or you’ve participated for years, the Canadian Cancer Society appreciates you joining the movement! Granville Island Turkey Trot 10k (Oct 14)

The Turkey Trot is not your average run, but instead, an experience. With great food, a family friendly course and wonderful volunteers, this is a run to remember for the ages. As an example, post-race food isn’t just water and fruit like most other races; instead there will be gourmet food for runners to enjoy at the finish line. Rubber Ducky Half Marathon (Oct 20)

The Rubber Ducky Half Marathon is a beautiful 21.1k, 7 mile and 5k course circles Burnaby Lake, giving you the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, exercise and more chances to view birds and animals in this wilderness environment. Join other walkers and runners on this scenic course throughout the trails of Burnaby Lake. Located in the middle of the neighbouring city of Burnaby, Burnaby Lake Regional Park is a stunning wildlife sanctuary. To register and for more info, click here.

Fall Run Classic (Oct 26)

The Fall Classic Half Marathon, 10k and 5k gives runners one last chance to go after that personal best, or to just get out and hit a half marathon before the holiday season and colder temperatures kick into full swing. Run at UBC, this race is known for amazing routes in the fall colours and great post-race atmosphere with prizing and live entertainment. Soames Grinder (Oct 26)

Located just a short ferry ride away in Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast, Soames Hill is  1.7k loop. For the Soames Grinder, you have six hours to do as many loops as possible!  Feel free to enjoy the views before heading down to do it all over again and again and again. If six hours seem like a lot, join up with your friends and family and make a relay team. As the event is close to Halloween, participants are encouraged to dress up for the prize of best-dressed racer. To register and for more info, click here.
