Travel Update: September 11, 2020

Travel protocol is changing frequently, so we’ve put together an overview of travel protocols for provincial, national, international travel to Vancouver.

Provincial

BC residents are encouraged to explore their neighbourhoods and communities close to home. Many restaurants, attractions and hotels have re-opened their doors and are waiting for provincials to explore. For more information on what’s currently open head to Vancouver ComeBack.

Face coverings are now mandatory on all TransLink services; buses, SkyTrain and SeaBus. Read about TransLink’s Safe Operating Action Plan (SOAP).

Remember to adhere to Dr. Bonnie’s Good Times Guide.

Night clubs and banquet halls are closed at this time.

If you are planning on exploring our urban wilderness, do so safely. Here are some outdoor safety tips and recommendations.

National

BC is now in Phase 3 of the Restart Plan, which means Canadian residents can take part in safe travel within the province. If you are intending to travel to BC from another province, we ask that you please follow the same guidelines as British Columbians to ensure the well being of all. Please take time to read the following:

We also encourage Canadian nationals to download the COVID Alert app – Canada’s free exposure notification app that can notify people of possible exposures before any symptoms appear.

International

The Government of Canada has extended the US – Canada border closure until at least September 21, 2020. The border also remains closed to all other nonessential international travellers including but is not limited to, tourism, recreation and entertainment. Please note, these closures are subject to change. We encourage you to visit the Government of Canada’s website for more information and timely updates.

We look forward to welcoming you to Vancouver in the future!

One Response to Travel Update: September 11, 2020

  1. My husband Tom and I are annual visitors to Canada and we have missed vacationing somewhere in Canada this year due to Covid-19. We have obeyed by Governor Newsom’s California protocol of social distancing and wearing masks and haven’t had the virus or been exposed to someone who has. We are frustrated and angry with the Trump’s administration of handing (or not) of the pandemic and hope to be able to visit our northern neighbor in the very near future.

    Stay safe and best regards,

    Stephanie
