Canada Wins 2025 Bid for Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Founding Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, today announced that the bid for the Invictus Games 2025 has been awarded to Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, in partnership with True Patriot Love Foundation. These Games will be the first to incorporate winter adaptive sports, in addition to some of the core sports from previous Invictus Games. True Patriot Love is partnering with the Government of Canada, the Government of British Columbia and the First Nations in Vancouver and Whistler to ensure the Invictus Games 2025 will be the most innovative and accessible Games to-date. When Womyn’s Ware opened in 1995 in Vancouver, its business concept was ground-breaking. Co-founders Janna Sylvest and Otter Louis saw an industry that was often exploitative, and instead wanted to create an environment that was about community and education. “What they wanted to do was create a safe space for their clientele who were, predominantly at the time, lesbian folks,” says Lesley McHale, current co-owner of the business. The name, Womyn’s Ware, was a political statement meant to underline Sylvest’s and Louis’ feminist stance.
