Vancouver in spring is gorgeous. Melting snow and rain makes the forest glow with new life and the waterfalls are gushing. But it is still winter in the mountains, so for spring hikes you’ll need to stick closer to sea level. A few years ago we published our list of the best spring hikes in Vancouver. The Four Lakes Trail at Alice Lake Provincial Park in Squamish is a great hike for a November day. The big leaf maples in the park are awash in colour, the cedars and moss glow bright green after the rain, and the trail is low enough to avoid snow. Plus you’ll get to visit four pretty lakes.

While Vancouver is a fairly green city, with lots of coniferous trees, each fall pockets of the region light up in yellow, gold, and crimson as their leaves change.
