Vancouver’s outdoor mural scene continues to grow each year, largely thanks to the Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF), an annual event that takes place each August.
The festival kicked off this month with new murals and daily events, all leading up to a massive Mountain Pleasant Street Party and concert on August 10.
If you’ve always been curious about the artistic process involved with painting, you’re going to want to check out the next Vancouver Art Battle. An intense, head-to-head live painting competition that pits 12 artists against each other in 3 rounds to declare 1 champion for the night. It’s a dramatic and exciting way to celebrate art and has always been an inspiring night of creation and community.
Art Battle will be arriving in Vancouver on October 21, 2017 at 6:30pm at The Red Room (398 Richards Street). You’ll get a chance to experience what it’s like when painters have just 20 minutes to take their canvases from blank to beautiful, with the audience voting to pick the winner. No pressure.

Vancouver Craft Beer Week has also begun, with tastings popping up in breweries and restaurants all over. (For a relaxing break from festivities, this weekend is also ideal the head to VanDusen Botanical Garden – the longer winter means that the spring blooms are all lighting up the landscape a little later this year, as in, right now!)
