Once a year Vancouver’s restaurant industry comes together to celebrate the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, the Oscars of the city’s hospitality industry. This year’s awards had plenty to keep foodies in the city gossiping for months to come –despite big hitters like Hawksworth, Cioppino’s, Maenam and Thomas Haas all (unsurprisingly) holding on to their laurels. The major surprise of the day was the tiny 32 seat Railtown Italian restaurant Ask For Luigi stealing the show by bagging a brace of awards: Best Casual, Best Italian Casual, Best New Restaurant and the much-coveted Best Restaurant of the Year.
Reeling from their huge win, Ask For Luigi’s team said, “We were surprised, elated and extremely humbled by the recognition we received. Thank you!”
