The highlight of this year’s summer is fast approaching with the 150th birthday celebration of Canada coming up on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Aside from the free drumming and movies, a food festival, and an open house at the Convention Centre, there is so much to do in the city this Canada Day long weekend, you’re going to need to take extra vacation afterwards to get some rest!

The culmination of the Canada Day events will be happening at Canada Place, which will host a huge two-day party on Saturday and Sunday that’s not to be missed. The event has everything you could ever want: performances, pancakes, and a parade!

YVR Food Fest Celebrates Canada Day with an Epic Brunch and More

Canada’s big 150th birthday bash is coming up next week and there are tons of events happening around town to celebrate the big 1-5-0. If you’ve got a craving for a side of tasty food with your Canadian celebrations, you’ll be happy to hear that the sixth annual YVR Food Fest will be returning to Vancouver from June 29 to July 3 at Olympic Village.

This is one food festival you’re not going to want to miss. This multi-day event will include something for everyone, with a food-focused speaker series (June 29), a long-table dinner (June 30), a Canada Day barbecue (July 1) with live music, and the largest outdoor brunch in the city’s history (July 3).

Not to mention, the festival’s flagship event, The Streetfood Showdown, a gathering of 70+ food carts, restaurants, wineries, and breweries with tasting menu items that pair well with drinks offered from the local breweries, wineries, and distilleries on site.

Canada in a Day: Help Out with CTV’s 150th Documentary

In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, CTV/Bell Media have teamed up with award-winning filmmaker Trish Dolman to shoot a crowdsourced film created entirely by Canadians. Canada in a Day will encapsulate the ordinary and extraordinary events taking place in the lives of Canadians – think of it as a visual time capsule of what life is like in Canada in 2016. The documentary will be released in summer 2017, and we need your help spreading the word.
