Get ready for some classic rock at this year’s Celebration of Light. The annual fireworks competition features three stages of free music on English Bay and Sunset Beach over three nights, July 23, July 27, and July 30.
Presented by the radio station LG 104.3, the concerts showcase local and national talent at the LG 104.3 Stage at the Keg Lounge in English Bay and the Sunset Beach Stage at beautiful Sunset Beach. This year’s headliners include eighties Canadian rock bands Loverboy (“Turn Me Loose,” “Working for the Weekend”) and Trooper (“Raise a Little Hell,” “We’re Here for a Good Time”), as well as some newer artists.

An estimated 400,000 people (per night) are ready to descend on Vancouver’s English Bay for one of the most explosive parties of the summer.
The Honda Celebration of Light fireworks are back for their 25th instalment, this July 25-Aug. 1. The unique fireworks competition sees three different national teams “face off” on separate nights for pyrotechnic supremacy. This year, China lights up the sky on Saturday, July 25, followed by Brazil on Wednesday, July 29, and finally home team Canada on Saturday, Aug. 1.
While the nightly fireworks are the big draw, the party begins well before that. As part of Shorefest, there will be live music on the beach, starting at 2 p.m. on Sunset Beach and culminating with performances at 7:15 p.m. on English Bay. (Headliners this year include Plantinum blonde, Randy Bachman and Chilliwack.) Food trucks and the Stanley Park Brewing Bistro beer garden at Sunset Beach keep revellers well fed and hydrated throughout the day and into the evening. Continue reading:

Not only is the Honda Celebration of Light the biggest event of the summer, it’s also BC’s biggest outdoor event that is free to watch! 2015 is the 25th year that the fireworks have been lighting up English Bay and to celebrate, this year is going to be huge.
The details of the 2015 Vancouver Fireworks Celebration of Light were announced recently, and this year Canada is coming back to enter the competition. In addition, along with the firework show, there will also be live performances, an Urban Adventure seawall challenge, and two new areas for prime viewing opportunities.
