10-Day Celtic-Themed Fest Returns to Vancouver

Lot’s of cities have a parade for St. Patrick’s Day.  Vancouver has 10 days of  Celtic-themed parties, markets and concerts.

CelticFest returns to Vancouver, March 7-March 17, with a packed lineup of familiar and new events where you can wear your green with pride. The festival kicks off Saturday, March 7, with a tribute to the great Celtic punk rockers The Pogues at the Imperial theatre on Main Street. Some of Vancouver’s top bands perform covers from the Pogues’ epic 30-year catalogue.

Festivities continue on Wednesday, March 11, with a pair of whisky-themed events at The Belmont club on Granville Street.   Continue reading:

Grab Your Bagpipes: Where to See Live Music During CelticFest

It’s almost time to kick off CelticFest: Vancouver’s week-long St. Paddy’s Day extravaganza, which runs from March 16-20.  Dozens of Irish-themed shows, seminars and celebrations are scheduled, from the big parade to whiskey tastings and even a Celtic film fest.  But one of the big highlights, as always, is the music.

Celtic music in all its incarnations – folk, rock, even fusion – is set to take Vancouver by storm.  Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect.
