New brewery hosts craft brewers and fans at East Vancouver block party this Saturday

The Yeast Van Brewery District Cooperative is comprised of various breweries in East Vancouver. This Saturday the organization is holding its first-ever block party.

The Yeast Van Block Party takes place Aug. 17 from 2-8 p.m. in the parking lot at Container Brewing at 1216 Franklin Street. Tickets are now on sale online, with a limited number available the day of the event. Ticket includes two drink tickets. After that, all drink tickets will cost $5 for a 12-oz glass of beer. Vancouver Craft Beer Week is soon here: May 18-26


It’s the most wonderful time of year for craft beer lovers. It’s the hop-hoppiest season of all. Vancouver Craft Beer Week returns May 18-26 with 60+ participating breweries, 70+ venues throughout Vancouver, and 50+ events spread over 9 beer-sodden days.

Judging by the VCBW Spinal Tap-influenced video (above), participants can expect more “rock stars” than “fermentation geeks.” The festivities kick off with Mayor Gregor Robertson tapping the first cask of Cascadian Brown Ale at the opening party at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre, May 18.
