October is B.C. Craft Beer Month, and that means…a very good excuse to drink beer.

But really—Vancouver is buzzing with beer-related events over the next few weeks, and the barley glitterati will be out in full force. Here’s a quick rundown on the local highlights of the annual month celebrating the best in British Columbian beer.

Tickets on sale for BC Beer Awards and Festival, beer education classes

Early bird tickets to the 5th Annual BC Beer Awards and Festival go on sale today (Tuesday, Aug. 19). Craft brewing across the province will be celebrated at the Oct. 25 event, which takes place at the Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive) in Vancouver. Besides tastings and awards, there will also be four education classes to help you become a more discerning beer drinker.

Raise a Glass with the BC Beer Awards & Festival

The 4th Annual BC Beer Awards & Festival returns this weekend to showcase and celebrate the very best craft beer brewed in British Columbia. The one-day event, held at the Croatian Cultural Centre, welcomes the public to both an awards ceremony and beer festival. BC’s best breweries will be on site showcasing their talents and the fruits of their labour. The BC Beer Awards & Festival is the signature event of the 3rd BC Craft Beer Month.

Make It – over 100 artisans and crafters this weekend!

Make It is a craft fair with a twist. Not only does the three-day affair bring together over 100 of Western Canada’s top artisans, designers and crafters, but the addition of live music, a bar and lots of tasty treats make the stroll through the aisles even more fun (and potentially spendy) than it might otherwise be.

At Make It, you’ll find fashion, specialty foods, body care products, accessories, art, jewelry (lots and lots of jewelry), baby items, and home decor. And if this sounds like a very female-oriented enterprise, don’t worry – there’s even stuff for the guys, too.
