This “modern day flea market” is held in the Ellis Building on Main Street and typically features more than 50 local vendors, artisan showrooms, rotating food trucks, and much more.

As if the Vancouver Food Cart Festival couldn’t get any more cool, they’ve gone and added a flea market to it.

Does your ideal Vancouver Saturday include a lazy stroll, people watching, bargain hunting and curiosity browsing? If that sounds about right, head over to Wise Hall (1882 Adanac St.) in East Van for the launch of the Eastside Flea summer market series. The first Eastside summer flea market kicks off Saturday, June 8 from 10am to 4pm. The rest of the Eastside Flea summer market events take place Saturday, July 13 and Saturday, August 17.

From farmers markets to craft fairs, Granville Island Public Market, the Vancouver Chinatown Night Market and the warehouse Vancouver Flea Market, Vancouver has many weekend market shopping options. The Eastside Flea is a different breed. It most reminds me of NYC’s popular Brooklyn Flea Market–a fresh mash-up of old and new, locally-made goods plus food. And an undeniably cool crowd of shoppers.

The Eastside Flea is a carefully-curated market that aims to show off Vancouver community. You’ll find a mix of vintage housewares and clothes alongside antiques, artisan products and edibles made by Vancouverites. Admission is by donation with a suggested donation rate of $1. That’s a few bucks cheaper than your average craft fair. Continue reading:
