Spring in Vancouver is a time of cherry blossoms, pleasantly mild temperatures and frequent showers.  But just because mother nature refuses to cooperate doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.  Indoor activities to entertain, challenge and engage the whole family abound in the city.

Here are five ideas for soaking up all Vancouver has to offer on a rainy day:

Get up close and personal with the beluga whales at the Vancouver Aquarium:  Located in 1,000-acre Stanley Park, the aquarium is home to more than 60,000 marine animals, including a very popular family of white beluga whales.  Especially for the kids, there’s a unique 4-D theater with smell-o-vision, as well as a touch pool where they can handle starfish and anemones.

Inside Vancouver has just launched another new photo contest on Flickr!

This time we are looking for your your favourite Vancouver family photos. We want photos showcasing families and children in Vancouver enjoying some of the many activities around the city.

Like before, just upload your photos to the Inside Vancouver Flickr group, tag them with the words “Vancouver” and “Inside Vancouver” and “Families”. Contest closes midnight September 30 2009.

We will select our favourite and award the winner with 4 tickets to the Vancouver Aquarium or 4 tickets for the Grouse Mountain gondola (both great family activities).
