Don’t Miss Greek Day on Broadway June 23 – Another Free Fun Vancouver Street Festival

During summer in Vancouver, it may feel like there’s a new festival every weekend. Go with your gut on this one. It’s true. This weekend, you can party at Greek Day 2013— a free Greek-themed cultural festival–Sunday, June 23. Greek Day is your chance to dance in circles, bellow “opa!” and consume too many spanakopita.

Head over to Kitsilano neighbourhood, historic home to Vancouver’s Greek immigrant population, from 11am to 9pm. The massive street party, which drew a crowd of 100,000 people last year, will close four blocks of West Broadway from MacDonald to Blenheim.

Greek Day, much like Commercial Drive’s Italian Day, is a free event that’s perfect for families (there’s even a baby change station) looking for fun things to do on the weekend. The entertainment line up includes live Greek folk music, invigorating dancing lessons, a Greek talent show, a Greek food tasting tent, cooking demos, Greek food carts, an artisan market and a pretty rocking kids zone with Greek crafts, face painting and a bouncy castle.

Find the full list of Greek Day 2013 festival highlights after the jump. Continue reading:
