This year, you can celebrate National Pancake Day as you were always meant to, by eating a nice stack of pancakes… for free. On Tuesday, March 8, every customer will get a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes at every IHOP location to celebrate what should be a national holiday.

That’s right, March 8 is National Pancake Day, and IHOP is celebrating by giving away free pancakes.

Vancouver Group Feeds 5,000 for Free with Rescued Food Waste

Yesterday in Vancouver 5,000 free lunches were served up to anyone ready and willing to eat so-called “ugly food” as part of the feast called “Feeding the 5,000 Vancouver“. For those people who don’t care about how their carrots look, this event event relies provided used food donated by local grocers to give out 5,000 free meals.

Before you start gagging at the idea… “Ew! Used food!?” This food has never been in anyone’s mouth. The Feeding the 5,000 Global effort is fueled by food donated by local grocers who are unable to sell the veggies, packages, or meat because it is too misshapen or too close to its best-before date to sell in stores. It’s a little ugly (don’t say that to its face, though!) but it’s still safe to eat.

Hungry? Free Indian Feast (for 20,000 people) in Vancouver for Chariot Day

Does free, authentic Indian food in a waterfront park in downtown Vancouver sound like your idea of a fun Sunday afternoon?

The Chariot Fest of India returns to Vancouver on Sunday, Aug. 10, with a parade of colourful, over-the-top floats and costumed Indian dancers followed by a free festival (and free lunch for about 20,000 people) at Stanley Park’s Second Beach.

Now in its 41st year, the Chariot Fest – also known as the Jagannath Rath Yatra – is a Hindu celebration that involves transporting massive deities on chariots. According to the authorities at Wikipedia: “The rath (chariot) is carrying Lord Jaggannath and due to its massive size and weight and sometimes seemingly unstoppable nature, has led to the English word juggernaut … ”
