Halloween may fall on a Wednesday this year but that midweek slump means nothing to the witches, gargoyles, and ghouls that haunt the queer nightlife in Vancouver. The week is jam-packed, so dust off that ghastly white sheet and pop in a few fangs – we’ll let you know where to get your tricks and treats on this week-long spook-a-thon!
Vancouver already has some really innovative and provocative public art, but chewing gum is definitely an exciting first.
This Halloween, get set to chew bubble gum and support kids’ art programming as part of an initiative commissioned by the City of Vancouver’s Public Art Program.

There’s less than three more crafting weeks until Halloween, and plenty going on to inspire your fantastical and ghoulish outfits! Fan Expo is this weekend with cosplay inspiration, there’s a Guo Pei couture garment show at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Cirque du Soleil is in town, and there are several new spooky events and shows to add to your October calendar.
Once your costume is chosen and pumpkins carved, it’s time to watch some horror. This year, local theatres have many of the usual suspects—Dario Argento’s Suspiria seems to get more popular with each passing Halloween—and a few surprises.
