Tickets are still on sale for the 41st annual Vancouver Folk Festival–the city’s “Best Local Music Festival” as rated by Georgia Straight Newspaper readers (five years in a row!).

The concert takes place over three days from July 13 – 15 and draws over 30,000 enthusiastic attendees to the beautiful Jericho Beach Park. The event is a unique mix of music and culture of more than 40 international, national, and local acts.

Watch a regatta this Saturday in Vancouver!

This Saturday, the biggest charity regatta on the West Coast takes to the waters around Vancouver.

Hosted by the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and presented by National Bank, the Easter Seals Charity Regatta is an annual event. It features boats in Flying and No Flying Sails divisions, a Boat Parade through False Creek and awards for Best Pirate Theme and Crew Spirit.  Continue reading:

With dozens of acts over its three days (July 18-20), the Vancouver Folk Music Festival can be intimidating. This is especially true of you just want to spend a few hours one afternoon at the Jericho Beach (4196 W. 4th) event, soaking up the sun near the water while enjoying some fabulous tunes.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival – July 15 – 17, 2011

Named one of the ten best outdoor concerts in North America by USA Today, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival is one of the highlights of the summer music season. This three-day festival at Jericho Beach Park features an eclectic range of folk and roots music performed on eight outdoor stages, all overlooking the picture-perfect vistas of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains.

At this festival, “folk” has an expansive meaning, covering an enormous range of sounds, from gospel to blues, rock, world music, spoken-word poetry, and African- and Latin fusion. The diverse 2011 artist line-up includes Dan Bern, Jim Bryson and the Weakerthans Band, Rosanne Cash, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Freshlyground, The Fugitives , La-33, New Country Rehab, Tim Robbins & The Rogues Gallery Band, and Mary Gauthier, to name just a few.
