While the last few weeks have been somewhat quiet with lesser comings and goings from Vancouver’s screen scene than usual, that all changes this week.

There’s a new young detective series starting principal photography while two series—a superhero show and a new musical dramedy—are finishing up shooting their latest seasons.

Meanwhile, a Canadian feature film, about a young woman torn between her struggling family and a life of love and independence, is also completing production.

And three of these projects feature female leads.

Filming in Vancouver: Charmed, The Murders, and Surveillance all call it a wrap

The TV series Charmed wraps up production on its first season this week.

’Tis the week before Christmas and all through the city, amid all the flurry of Christmas wrapping, TV and film productions shooting in Vancouver are also calling it a wrap.

This week, two TV series and a pilot, including a police procedural and a fantasy-drama about a trio of witches, finish up production on their latest seasons.

Filming in Vancouver: New TV series The Murders and Magic Hour, fantasy-romance feature Undying

Vancouver star Jessica Lucas is in the lead role of the new TV series The Murders.

In this week’s roundup of what’s happening the local screen scene, there are two new TV series underway and they’re both about homicide investigations.

But that’s where the similarities end.

One revolves around a detective who is seeking to redeem herself while the other is about a young girl and aspiring journalist who takes matters into her own hands and finds herself taking on a murder case.
