Rich in history, steeped in nature with a sprawling network of well-maintained trails make Campbell Valley Regional Park a favourite in the South Langley area. An ideal spot for birdwatching, picnics, and stretching your legs, the 535-hectare park features a variety of landscapes including lush forests, grassland vistas and wetlands. With over 29 km of trails to choose from, it’s often difficult to pick the perfect path. However, for a quick and easy family -friendly outing I always enjoy a jaunt along the Little River Loop Trail.

Meet the Locals on Family Day

In the distance, I could hear their distinctive howl. It began as a highly pitched series of yips and yelps which quickly escalated into an attention-grabbing chorus of sound as the pack joined in. Although I was in the heart of suburbia, I found myself captivated by the calls of a coyote pack. Unsure whether to feel frightened or excited, I froze in my tracks. I wondered what was causing all the excitement? I wondered if I was the source, having perhaps wandered too close to a den? Then, as if on cue, the howling stopped and the stillness of the evening prevailed. I suppose the party was over.

Parks & Parties – Metro Vancouver Celebrates 50 Years

2017 promises to be an epic year for parks and parties! Our beloved Canada is turning 150, and in honour of this epic birthday, Parks Canada is offering their Discovery Pass granting visitors free admission to our world renowned National Park network. Closer to home, there is another special anniversary of note. Metro Vancouver Regional Parks is celebrating 50 years of “hikes, dog walks and morning runs among centuries-old trees.”
