1,000-foot-long massive water slide coming to North Vancouver this weekend

This weekend’s forecast is calling for a chance of getting wet and having fun! At North Vancouver’s Slide the City, that is…

On Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, from 10am to 6pm, a 1,000-foot-long slip and slide will be returning to Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver for the annual Slide the City event. This is the fourth time Vancouver has hosted the epic slide, and each year the event gets bigger and better than ever before!

Slide the City is part of North Vancouver’s “Fun City Festival”, which also features activities including food trucks, live music, and more.

When art and nature intersect, the result is almost always thought-provoking and inspiring. Recently, while hiking along North Vancouver’s Mosquito Creek Trail, I stumbled upon Adam Kuby’s Earthwork sculpture. From a distance, near a little footbridge, slabs of granite dominated the landscape. They appeared out of place. Curious, I approached the rock wondering why such large blocks would be located in such a prominent place on the trail. Fascinated, I discovered this installation was one of three pieces, a triptych, situated on the North Shore.

Heywood Park – An Urban Sanctuary

Blink, and you might miss this little gem on the scenic North Shore. Located on the western boundary of the City of North Vancouver, Heywood Park is sixteen hectares of lush, green, rainforest awesome! Complete with a playground, washrooms, and sports fields Heywood Park is a perfect family destination. Of course, I am always on the quest for a new walking trail, and I must say the upper forested natural areas of the MacKay Creek ravine were a delight!

Slide the City North Vancouver Returning for 2 days this August

Hot enough for you? If you’re looking for some unique places to cool down in Vancouver this summer, why not try sliding down a giant 1,000-foot long slip n’ slide!? This August, North Vancouver will be bringing back the extremely popular Slide the City event, which includes a massive waterslide that stretches for three city blocks.

Tickets are now on sale for the Slip N’ Slide that will be set up as part of North Vancouver’s 2017 Fun City Festival taking place on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13. Aside from the giant slip n’ slide, there will be live music, food trucks, artisans, a kids fun zone, roving performers, outdoor patios, beverage gardens, and no cars. It’s North Van’s answer to the City of Vancouver’s popular Car Free Festivals, and it’s certainly gearing up to be something special.
