Can’t-Miss Events at the 2015 Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival

Think Pride is just a parade? Not by a long shot.

The Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival returns to the city, July 25-Aug. 2. Apart from the giant parade on Aug. 2 (which attracts more than 650,000 spectators), this year’s festival includes a full lineup of outdoor events, street parties, dinners and club nights and even a celebration on Sunset Beach.

Ready for a 10K with a twist? The festival kicks off with the annual Pride Run and Walk through Stanley Park on Saturday, July 25. Runners (many in costume) compete on a course through the park’s trails and seawalls, hydrating at special disco water stations en route. There’s also a 5K walking option. Afterward, focus shifts to Picnic in the Park, a family-friendly afternoon of summer games – think tug-of-war, volleyball and a special “drag” race – plus music by local DJs.  Continue reading:

Ready to show your shamrocks with pride? The 11th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will turn downtown Vancouver into a sea of green this Sunday, March 15, with marching bands, dancers and plenty of bagpipes.

The parade marks the climax of CelticFest Vancouver, a 12-day tribute to Celtic culture. The festival includes dozens of music, dance and theatre events at venues around the city, from Celtic rock concerts to guided whisky tastings. (Check out some of the can’t-miss happenings here.)

Guide to the 2014 Canada Day Celebration at Canada Place

Ready for the biggest Canada Day celebration outside of Ottawa? Downtown Vancouver’s Canada Place is set to be transformed into an all-out party zone for the country’s birthday bash on July 1.

More than 250,000 people are expected to crowd into the waterfront area surrounding the Vancouver Convention Centre for Canada Day at Canada Place 2014.  The action starts from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. with the Waterfront Party, a full day of live music, interactive sports, artisan markets and more.  The annual Canada Day Parade kicks off at 7 p.m. and the night concludes with fireworks at 10:30 p.m.
