Think Pride is just a parade? Not by a long shot.
The Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival returns to the city, July 25-Aug. 2. Apart from the giant parade on Aug. 2 (which attracts more than 650,000 spectators), this year’s festival includes a full lineup of outdoor events, street parties, dinners and club nights and even a celebration on Sunset Beach.
Ready for a 10K with a twist? The festival kicks off with the annual Pride Run and Walk through Stanley Park on Saturday, July 25. Runners (many in costume) compete on a course through the park’s trails and seawalls, hydrating at special disco water stations en route. There’s also a 5K walking option. Afterward, focus shifts to Picnic in the Park, a family-friendly afternoon of summer games – think tug-of-war, volleyball and a special “drag” race – plus music by local DJs. Continue reading:
