It’s a great time to be a shopper in Vancouver.  Retailers from around the world are scheduled to open new flagships stores in the city in the coming months and years.  New malls are under construction and old ones are under renovation.

Here’s a quick look at some of the upcoming changes in Vancouver’s retail landscape:

Park Royal Mall RedevelopmentThe venerable North Shore mall is in the midst of a $150-million improvement and expansion project that will add an additional 300,000 square feet of retail space.  New tenants like Anthropologie and Zara will soon be joined by Vancouver’s first La Maison Simons.  The Quebec-based specialty fashion retailer is slated to open a 100,000-square-foot store in 2015.   Continue reading:

After-Hours Bargain Shopping at Park Royal Mall

Is it too early to start thinking about holiday shopping?  Of course it’s not . . . .

A great way to kick off your shopping and support a good cause is the Starry Nights event at Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver.  On Monday, Nov. 29, and Tuesday, Nov. 30, the mall, which has more than 280 shops and restaurants, will be staying open after hours from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for two nights of bargain shopping.

10 ways to weather the weather; or, how to keep your chin up when it’s coming down

'Tis the season

It never rains in Vancouver except for maybe in November. And a bit in December and January. Well, and February too, but hey–you don’t have to shovel it!

Still, I struggle with our wet winters. Grey is grim when it’s showing on every channel. So I have perfected a strategy for keeping my chin up when it’s coming down.
