Vancouver’s shops and restaurants transform into party spaces on Thursday, September 6, for an evening of fashion and fun. It’s the first time Vancouver has participated in Fashion’s Night Out: a style celebration that started in NYC in 2009 and has spread to other fashion capitals including Milan, Paris and London.

FNO began as a way to bring the glitz and glamour of fall fashion week to shoppers. And many shoppers enjoy hanging out with designers, models and editors while getting discounts and sipping cocktails. The event hasn’t stopped expanding.

Fashion’s Night Out launches with a free, public fashion show at CBC Studio 40. Local celeb designers Jason Matlo and Jacqueline Conoir, as well as Van retailers, have put together a collection of catwalk looks. Doors open at 5:30 and the first 500 people there  get seats.

Meanwhile, from 6-10pm, retailers throughout the city, from Robson Street to Gastown and Yaletown, have in store events that include DJs, gifts with purchase, discounts, complimentary (sometimes boozy) drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and more. You can also expect FNO restaurant  specials from Thierry, CinCin, Blue Water and The Urban Tea Merchant. Details after the jump. Continue reading:
