Langley Events Centre: Holiday Festival on Ice (Free Ticket Giveaway!)

The Holiday Festival on Ice returns to the Langley Events Centre on Friday, December 6 at 7pm. Some of Canada’s most famous figure skaters will take to the ice, including four-time World Champion, and comedic-crowd pleaser, Kurt Browning, two-time Olympic medalist Elvis Stojko, Olympic Bronze medalist Joannie Rochette and new to this year’s event, Canadian jazz singer Holly Cole. Holiday Skating at Robson Square

Over the holiday break, bring your skates and sense of balance to Robson Square for free skating and live music!

Robson square is in the heart of the city on Robson St. (between Howe and Hornby). The outdoor skating rink is now open until the end of February 2011, including Christmas Day (noon to 5:00 p.m.) and there is live music (6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) until Christmas Eve.

Discovering the Richmond Oval

In case you hadn’t heard, Vancouver will be hosting a pretty big event in 6 months time. Now, we haven’t come close to seeing all the results of that particular project, but more and more of the venues, celebration sites, and buildings are being completed (or close to), and many are being opened up to the public.

One of those venues, and perhaps one of the most impressive to built, is the Richmond Olympic Oval. This will be the speed skating venue, and is a pretty incredible building of wood and stone and ice.
