BC Place Stadium is the home of the BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the Canada Sevens and many more events throughout the year. The stadium reopened in September 2011 after a revitalization that included a spectacular retractable roof and a host of upgrades that has made BC Place the premier stadium in all of Canada.

‘Caps Chat: An Interview with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Goalkeeper, David Ousted

Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club are steeped in tradition dating back to 1974. The team currently play in Major League Soccer, the highest level of the professional club game in North America.

While maintaining their Canadian feel, the ‘Caps squad is also packed with a number of players from across the world, including South America, Europe and Asia. In the first of a series of articles, Inside Vancouver, sits down with some of the Whitecaps’ top international players to discover their love for their city and their top tips and recommendations for visitors and locals alike.

We kick the series off chatting with the Whitecaps’ 31-year-old Danish goalkeeper, David Ousted, who has called Vancouver home for almost three years now, and who credited his, and his family’s love of the city as a key a factor in signing his recent contract extension with the club.

A Guide to Downtown Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium

Opened in 1983, and completely renovated between 2009 and 2011, Vancouver’s BC Place is the jewel in the crown of Canada’s sports stadiums and a must visit on any trip to the city.

With a total capacity of 54,500 in upper and lower bowl seating, BC Place has played host to some of the top sporting events in the world, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics and the 2015 Women’s World Cup. Most recently, the stadium became a venue for the World Rugby Sevens Series and has hosted the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) championship, the Grey Cup.

Outdoorsman Night with the Vancouver Giants, March 4 (Free Ticket Giveaway!)

On Friday, March 4th, the Vancouver Giants will be hosting Outdoorsman Night. The G-Men will be playing the Victoria Royals at 7:30pm at the Pacific Coliseum.

The Giants held the first official Outdoorsman Night last year, receiving rave reviews. It’s an event for which the Giants bring together distinctly British Columbian partners to celebrate all things BC: hockey, fishing, logging, exploring, working hard and playing harder.

Sunday Funday – The Vancouver Giants Family Hockey Tradition, Feb 21 (Free Ticket Giveaway!)

The Vancouver Giants will host their division rivals, the Kamloops Blazers, on Sunday, February 21st at 5:00pm in the Pacific Coliseum. It’s the sixth time these two teams are facing off this season.

The Pacific Coliseum is a historic rink that has hosted the Giants since their inauguration in the 2001-02 season and held Canucks games before their move to General Motors Place (now Rogers Arena). Every seat in the house feels close to the ice, giving Coliseum visitors an intimate view of the Great Canadian Game without paying a fortune for it.

The Vancouver Giants will host the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at the Pacific Coliseum on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 6:00pm!

The 21st annual game will feature the CHL’s top-40 NHL draft eligible players as selected by NHL Central Scouting in a best-on-best showcase including talent from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League competing before hundreds of NHL scouts in attendance.
