Some of the biggest names in letters are coming to Vancouver. More than 100 award-winning novelists, poets, journalists and playwrights are set to converge on the city for the 28th instalment of the Vancouver Writers Fest, this Oct. 20-25.
The six-day festival, held on Granville Island in downtown Vancouver, features nearly 100 readings, panel discussions, interviews, literary brunches and cabarets, and other events. More than 16,000 book lovers from around the world are expected to turn up to meet leading writers from Canada, the U.S. and as far away as Denmark and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This year’s festival is heating up to be one of the best in years, with a full lineup of marquee writers, as well as up-and-coming scribes who deserve a place on your reading list.
