Museum hopping is a favourite Vancouver past time during the rainy winter months … but it isn’t necessarily cheap. Full-price admission to the city’s top museums and galleries can run from $15 to $25 and up.

Except, that is, for one magical day of the year when you can visit five of the city’s cultural attractions for $5. Winter Wander returns this Jan. 23, transforming waterfront Vanier Park, home to a bumper crop of museums, into a moving cultural feast.

Pop quiz: Where is Vancouver’s Vanier Park located?

Bravo if you know the answer.  If you don’t, no worries – Even lifelong Vancouverites get mixed up on this one. Vanier Park stretches all the way from the Burrard Street Bridge to Kitsilano Beach on the southwest shore of False Creek. It’s a seaside expanse of green hills, little forested knolls, ponds and beaches.

And it also happens to be a cultural hotbed. Vanier Park is home to three major museums: the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and the Vancouver Maritime Museum.  It also hosts the annual Bard on the Beach Shakespeare fest and is home to the City of Vancouver Archives and the Vancouver Academy of Music.

And this Family Day weekend you can see all six of these Vancouver attractions for just $5.   Continue reading:

If you’re scratching your head and wondering where exactly Vanier Park is, then that probably proves my point.  Kitsilano‘s largest park, Vanier stretches all the way from the Burrard Street Bridge to Kits Beach at the mouth of False Creek.  It’s a seaside, rolling expanse of green hills, little forested knolls, ponds, seawall and beaches.  It’s rarely crowded, even at the height of summer, and offers great views of downtown (Can you tell I’m a fan?).
