“I’m just there. Flyin’ like a bird. Like electricity. Yeah, like electricity.” – Billy Elliott

Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage is where you’ll cheer on everyone’s favourite underdog, running from May 12 – July 10.

Based on the acclaimed film, and with a soundtrack by Elton John, Billy Elliot is an inspiring story of an 11-year old boy’s courage, ambition, and overcoming adversity. Set in 1984 in County Durham, England where coal miners are set to go on strike, young Billy (Nolan Fahey) meets ballet teacher Mrs. Wilkinson (Caitriona Murphy) after his boxing class – and his path is forever changed.

Billy’s raw, untrained talent and enthusiasm is enough for Mrs. Wilkinson to push him towards auditioning for the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London, but his father (Warren Kimmel) and brother (Danny Balkwill), will have none of that, especially during these tumultuous times.

“The story brilliantly contrasts a story of courage and determination against a backdrop of conflict and turmoil,” says director and Artistic Managing Director Bill Millerd of the Arts Club Theatre Company.

Choreographer Valerie Easton adds, “The huge, ensemble dance numbers really emphasize the energy and conflict in the show. Nolan Fahey is also an extraordinarily talented young man with strong ballet, tap, and gymnastic skills—he’s going to shine as Billy Elliot!”

Winner of 10 Tony Awards, this global musical has swept theatres globally. Catch it here in Vancouver while you can.

Tickets start at $29. 604.687.1644 or visit artsclub.com
