Celebrating the city’s diverse LGBTQ2+ community is a given each summer during Pride Festival, and this year is better than ever. Here’s a few new highlights.

On Friday, July 15, LOUD Business and the Vancouver Pride Society are hosting a lunch reception in honour of the 2016 TD Pride Legacy Award Recipients. Held at Forage restaurant, with proceeds from the event going towards the LOUD Foundation, a charity that awards scholarships to full-time students and future leaders that demonstrate exceptional commitment and contribution toward Vancouver’s LGBTQ2+ community. Tickets are available online.

To get the Pride-vibe really started, keep Friday, July 29th free for the Davie Street Party from 6PM-midnight. This year Thurlow Street will be closed to cars, meaning that it will only be foot-traffic allowed between Burrard and Jervis Streets. Free and all ages, but wristband purchases are open to folks 19 and older who wish to sip a cocktail or two. This year, Vancouver Pride will be accepting cashless payments through RFID-enabled wristbands, available online now for $5 (At the door, wristbands will be $10).

Like all other Vancouver Pride Society events, this is fully accessible. The BC Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf will be providing ASL interpretation, roads will be wheelchair accessible, gender-neutral restrooms are available, and there will be seating and wheelchair space. Live music, vendors, games, activities, and more make it a highlight you won’t want to miss

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will march in Vancouver’s Pride Parade

I love a parade! But then, who doesn’t? The Vancouver Pride Society has announced that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will march in the 38th Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Yep, our PM will be rocking his rainbow flag, and we’re darn proud of his pride. If you’ve never experienced our parade, you won’t want to miss one of the most beautiful and diverse parades on the planet – that was granted civic status in 2013 attracting major crowds every year.
