Learn from the World’s Best Public Speakers at Toastmasters International in Vancouver

Chances are, if you’ve ever shied away from public speaking or sought advice on how to improve your public speaking skills, someone advised you to try Toastmasters International. Founded more than 90 years ago, the organization has achieved global recognition by its mandate of empowering individuals to face down their fears, gain confidence and, ultimately, become the most effective communicators and leaders they can be. This August, Vancouverites and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to witness for themselves the transformational power of Toastmasters when the organization convenes at the Vancouver Convention Centre for its 86th annual convention.

Though the conference is geared towards members, Toastmasters organizers are inviting the Vancouver community to attend most educational sessions and competitive events. Locals and visitors alike won’t want to miss The World Championship of Public Speaking, a conference highlight that brings together 10 finalists from around the world to deliver awe-inspiring, unforgettable speeches. Contestants have spent the last year competing in club, area, district and semifinals competitions, and their hard work and dedication to mastering the craft of compelling storytelling culminates in this final challenge that will identify one individual as the World Champion of Public Speaking. The event takes place on Friday, August 25 at 8pm, and tickets start at $75. For more information, click here.
