From Sunday, March 25 to Wednesday, March 28, the campus at the University of British Columbia will be holding its iconic “Storm the Wall” event that has UBC students, faculty, staff, and the community racing to get over a huge 12-foot wall.

To kick off the competition, UBC Recreation will be hosting a community event on Sunday, March 25th for an afternoon of family fun. The free festival will include food, games, and prizes to celebrate the longstanding tradition that is Storm the Wall.

Storm the Wall has been a UBC tradition for over 40 years, bringing the campus community together for a physical and mental challenge. At the community event, you’ll get to witness the action when teams (and some individuals entirely on their own) complete a swim, sprint, bike, and run relay before attempting to climb a 12-foot wall together.

For those who just prefer to watch the action, the “Storm the Wall” community event will feature lots of fun for all ages. Kids can embrace their inner superhero with a superhero meet n’ greet, or explore a fun Gym Bus. Other activities include a rock-climbing wall, face painting, ball art, indoor zip-lining and much more!

If you’ve never been to the UBC Point Grey campus, this is also a good excuse to take a stroll around the university grounds. Highlights include the UBC Botanical Gardens, Museum of Anthropology, and the Beatty Biodiversity Museum.

But the highlight will likely be watching all the teams try and make it over the wall!

Those who attend the event will also have the opportunity to win a free week of summer camp with UBC Camps valued at approximately $400.00. There will also be a free hot dog lunch for community members.
