Ticket Giveaway – Chor Leoni’s When There is Peace

We’re giving away a pair of tickets to see Chor Leoni’s When There is Peace on November 10th at 8pm. Using Great War-era poetry and the found letters of infantrymen, Canadian-American composer Zachary Wadsworth contrasts the grim earthbound reality of trench warfare with the freedom of birds soaring and singing overhead.

To be eligible, simply post a comment below and be automatically entered to win. We’ll select a lucky winner on November 5th and will notify the winner by email.

Joining Chor Leoni for their 27th annual Remembrance Day concerts are the renowned Borealis String Quartet, noted Canadian tenor Lawrence Wiliford, soprano Arwen Myers, and percussionists Martin Fisk and Robin Reid.

CBC Radio will broadcast When There Is Peace on November 11th at 9am across Canada in a special one-hour long presentation of CBC’s Choral Concert. CBC Radio broadcast makes the Remembrance Day weekend a choral lover’s dream.  Experience the buzz of being in the first audience to hear this spellbinding new work. Then, at the Vancouver performances, audience members are invited to stay for post-concert Talk Backs with the composer and Chor Leoni’s Erick Lichte.

Commemorative Remembrance Day concerts have been a keystone of Chor Leoni’s season since the founding of the choir in 1992. “When There Is Peace traces a journey from the horror of war, into that tenuous moment when word of the Armistice first broke, and finally to the delirious ecstasy when the guns fell silent and hope bloomed once more,” says Chor Leoni Artistic Director Erick Lichte. “This is a work about the promise of peace. It is also about the responsibility we all share to remember those who have fallen and to ensure their sacrifices were not in vain.”
