Tickets Are Going Fast for Vancouver International Wine Festival

Everyone’s favourite excuse to sip wine all day long is just around the corner. Celebrating its 41st birthday on February 23, Vancouver International Wine Festival returns to the Vancouver Convention Centre for eight days of wine-fuelled events, galas, seminars and minglers.

Fans of buttery chardonnays and big, bold reds can rejoice: this year’s featured country is California. The renowned wine capital will be represented by 53 wineries showcasing their favourite varietals at the International Festival Tasting, as well as 20 California-dedicated events (our picks include Explore California! at the Vancouver Club, and Festive California at the Vancouver Convention Centre’s West Building).

Of course, there’s no need to lounge in California: vintners from 15 other countries will pour some of their best vino, too. Festival-goers have ample opportunity to take their tastebuds on a tasting journey: there are 42 public events to choose from, as well as the flagship Tasting Room, where 725 wines will be poured.

Wine by itself is wonderful, but wine paired with fabulous food is even better. VIWF attracts not only winery principals from around the world, but also gathers B.C.’s top culinary talents to share their fare at events across the city. Attendees can savour classic and contemporary food perfectly paired to featured wines at “Beauty and the Beest”, hosted by Wildebeest; graze on light bites and sip wines poured by several wineries at “Just Chill”, taking place at The Loft at Earls Yaletown; and taste the results of a culture collaboration between India and Argentina at “Reaching for the Stars”, hosted at Vij’s. Several other events are available, but be sure to book soon as many events are already sold out.

Vancouver International Wine Festival is the biggest wine festival in North America, and widely considered one of the best wine events in the world. See why for yourself by visiting www.vanwinefest.ca, and claim your tickets before your event of choice is sold out!
