If you’re a fan of the extremely popular Netflix series, Riverdale, you may recognize the Twilight Drive-in Movie Theatre; it was featured prominently in the fourth episode of the show.

Even if you have no idea what the sentence above is referring to, all you gotta know is that the Lower Mainland is home to one of the last remaining drive-in movie theatres in BC (and Canada!)

About a 45 – 55 minute drive from Downtown Vancouver (depending on the traffic); the Twilight Drive-in Movie Theatre is an iconic piece of history. And this Friday, March 1st, it reopens for the season!

Around 52 drive-in theatres remain in operation across Canada (who knew!?) and the Twilight is one of just three left in British Columbia.

The Twilight Drive-in Movie Theatre is exactly what you’d expect, a chance to watch a popular movie in the comfort of your own car. The five-and-a-half-acre location has a car capacity of 424, so you likely won’t have to worry about a movie selling out.

For over 15 years, Twilight Drive-in Theatre has been open for business, running from late winter to late fall. It has even featured in a plethora of filming projects, from commercials to TV series (see above), to feature-length movies. Among its credentials: Air Bud: Spikes Back, and episodes from TV series including PsychR.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, and Flash Gordon.

Just because the theatre is a relic itself doesn’t mean it relies on old classic movies. You’ll likely show new or recent movies, check out the coming attractions for full details.

Worried about rain or snow cancelling the outdoor movie experience? No worries, Twilight stays open regardless of the weather conditions. Also, you’ll be tuning into the movie on your FM dial, so if your car doesn’t play the radio when it’s off, don’t forget to bring a small radio. You can find answers to all the burning questions you may have about the experience on the detailed FAQ.

Fun fact: if you’re hoping to bring fido along to enjoy the movie, feel free! The Twilight is pet friendly!

The Twilight Drive-in Movie Theatre is located at 3350 260 St, Aldergrove, BC V4W 2B1. More information is available at www.twilightdrivein.net
