Two Magical Vancouver Galas for Worthy Causes

Two of Vancouver’s well-known non-profit organizations are holding their annual gala fundraising events this fall. Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides accommodation and a supportive space for families whose children are in need of life saving treatments. Arts Umbrella champions and provides arts education (e.g. dance, theatre, music, visual art) for youth, including free-of-charge outreach programs aimed at making art accessible to everyone.

If you’re looking for lavish nights out in Vancouver, all in support of good causes, these two events are ones to star on your social calendar.

Coming up next week on October 4, 2019 at 6pm, the Fairmont Pacific Rim (1038 Canada Place) will be the location for Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon’s 17th Annual A Night to Dream Gala. The charitable organization relieves the financial burden of accommodation for families across BC and Yukon who are visiting Vancouver so that their children can receive crucial medical treatments. Over the years, $3 million has been raised through this event, allowing Ronald McDonald House to continue to open its doors and its hearts to families in need of healing and community.

On October 4, you can expect an incredibly elegant evening with delicious food and wine, live entertainment, and the chance to participate in raffles, as well as silent and live auctions.

Tickets are $400 per person ($4,000 for a table of 10). Tickets and info are found on-line. Contact Lana Mador at 604-736-2957 ex. 2134 or email lmador@rmhbc.ca to book a table.

Next up, on October 26, 2019 at 6pm, the 37th annual Arts Umbrella Splash Art Auction & Gala will be taking place at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (900 West Georgia Street). Supporters of the arts will congregate for a night celebrating the inspirational power of art, especially for youth. Local media celebrities Gloria Macarenko and Fred Lee will be the emcees for the night. Besides food and wine, there will be live performances by the Arts Umbrella Dance Company and Pre-Professional Theatre Troupes, as well as a presentation of a media arts piece created by students.

The culmination of the evening consists of an auctioning of over 100 original works by well-known artists. After, DJ Chloe will be hosting the after party where there’ll be plenty of dancing.

New this year are inspiration tables where 4 guests will get prime viewing of the night’s activities, champagne and table service for nibbles, optional table signage, speedy registration and check-out, their names in the evening program, and a partial charitable tax receipt. Much of the table proceeds will go to the Arts Umbrella Bursary Fund. Meanwhile, luminary tickets provide reserved seating, special registration, name recognition in print at the event, a special cashier for checkout, and a partial tax receipt for the proceeds going to the Bursary Fund.

Gala tickets are $400 per person, luminary tickets are $750, and inspiration tables are $4000. Tickets and further info can be found on-line.
