If your New Year’s resolution had something to do with trying to run a bit more, you’re in luck – Vancouver has a huge running culture and it seems like there’s always something going on to keep you motivated.

Whether you’re into trail running, road running, or just walking a little quicker than usual, these races are some of the top events happening this Winter/Spring season to get you eased back into the running mode after a few too many turkey/tofurkey dinners.

There are so many races in Vancouver each month that it’s hard to limit a list to 5, but the ones below are those that sound the most unique, fun, and doable! If you’re looking to get serious, check out the Vancouver Running Race calendar for even more events.

RunGo Dash for Dogs

When: February 23, 2020

Distances: 5k, 10k, Fundraiser, 2k

Registration: $10 – $25 depending on length

Not only will you be raising money for the adorable and incredibly heroic guide dogs of BC and Alberta, but you’ll be running this fun run with a bunch of friendly puppers! If you have a furry running partner of your own, you’re encouraged to bring out your four-footed friend to join in the race.

The unique opportunity to run an official race with your dog (or other people’s dogs) is what makes this run so fun! Also, makes it a bit chaotic as dogs stop and poop and backtrack to smell each other’s butts – but that’s what makes it so fun!

Distances: 5k

Take the regular Grind, but make it a bit harder and covered in snow! The Snowshoe Grind is a fabulous way to stay fit in Vancouver, just a tad bit easier than its summer co-part. This race, however, will not make it easier!

The Snowshoe Grind Mountain Run is a great opportunity for snowshoers (or micro-spikers) of all abilities and fitness levels to get outside and enjoy the trail on top of Grouse Mountain. From the seasoned veteran to the first time snowshoer, all are welcome to participate.
