Saturday, January 25, 2020 marks the Year of the Rat and there is an abundance of events happening across Vancouver and Richmond to celebrate Spring, Chinese New Year and traditional Asian New Year.

This festive tradition promises to be a feast for the intrepid culture seeker and family friendly. The entire weekend is packed full of fantastic events including traditional lion dances, foodie events, parades, crafts, cultural performances and much more.

LunarFest Celebrations

Hosted at the Vancouver Art Gallery, this event is a celebration of Asian arts and culture. This event features a plethora of entertainment from kids’ games to live music and performance. The event takes place on January 25 & 26 from 11am – 4pm. Click here for more information.

Countdown Night to Chinese New Year of the Rat at Aberdeen Centre

Hosted in the Aberdeen Mall, located in Richmond, the countdown to Chinese New Year will feature a live variety stage show from 8:30pm – 10:00pm, featuring dance,music and games. The 47th Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade

On Sunday, January 26, 2020, the Chinatown Spring Festival and Parade will feature lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances and much more. Year of the Rat Creative Chinatown Fair

The Creative Chinatown Fair is coming back on Sunday, January 26, the day of the 47th Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade. The fair will feature amazing Lunar New Year art, crafts and foods created by 20+ local artists and vendors! Lunar New Year Celebrations on Granville Island
