Tulips are one of the most colourful signs of spring in Vancouver as they bloom in nearly every colour of the rainbow. You can enjoy these gorgeous flowers at tulip farms and gardens around Vancouver.
Tulip Visitor Tips
- Dress for the weather. Spring flowers need rain showers to grow. If you’re heading to a tulip farm, bring rainboots as the fields can be muddy.
- Some locations allow dogs on-leash, while others do not allow dogs. Check websites for details.
- Make time to stop in at the farm shop to buy cut tulips and other local products.
- Weekends can be very busy. Try to visit on a weekday.
VanDusen Botanical Garden
Each spring VanDusen Botanical Garden erupts in a symphony of colourful blooms, including over thirty types of tulips. Wander the paths to find all the varieties. They make amazing photo backdrops.

Quarry Gardens in Queen Elizabeth Park
Each spring the carefully planted flower beds in the Quarry Gardens at Queen Elizabeth Park are a burst of colourful tulips. Explore the paths through the main Quarry Garden just downhill from the Bloedel Conservatory. Don’t miss the quieter and smaller North Quarry Garden near the Seasons in the Park restaurant.

Abbotsford Tulip Festival
Lakeland Flowers hosts the Abbotsford Tulip Festival each year. They have 27 acres of flowers with over 70 varieties of tulips. The farm is owned and operated by the Dutch-Canadian Warmerdam family who have been growing tulips here for three generations. They also grow peonies in May and June, lavender in June, July, and August, and sunflowers from June to September.

Chilliwack Tulip Festival
Also known as Tulips of the Valley, the Chilliwack Tulip Festival has added colour to the Fraser Valley each spring since 2006. The festival takes place on a working farm. There are 20 acres of flowers including 30 varieties of tulips, 15 types of daffodils, and 10 types of hyacinths. The site is also set up for photo ops with swingsets, a windmill, and elevated platforms so you can get the best shot.
[Update: The Chilliwack Tulip Festival has relocated to Agassiz and will be held as the Harrison Tulip Festival in Spring 2024.]
