Watch Team Europe take on Team World live at the annual international tennis tournament when the prestigious Laver Cup comes to Rogers Arena from September 22-24. This year’s competition marks the first time the World team, which includes Canada, will host the Laver Cup outside of the U.S.

The three-day competition sees rivals become teammates as six of the top men’s tennis players from across Europe face off against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world. Rogers Arena will host some of the game’s best athletes in a world-class experience for the fans as the Laver Cup visits the west coast for the very first time.

Played on a dramatic black indoor court, the Laver Cup debuted in Prague in 2017 and has since rotated destinations between Europe and the world, staged in Chicago in 2018, Geneva in 2019, Boston in 2021, and the O2 Arena in London last year.

Twenty-time Grand Slam singles champion and one of the greatest tennis players ever, Roger Federer, will be celebrated at this year’s event. Federer, a Laver Cup co-founder, will be in town for the duration of the tournament. On the Friday evening session, he will be invited onto the court on Sept. 22 to mark the one-year anniversary of his last competitive match.

Team Europe

Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud is confirmed to represent Team Europe for the third time. The highest-ranked Norwegian in ATP history and a three-time Grand Slam singles finalist, world #7 Ruud is undefeated in Laver Cup competition following decisive singles victories in 2021 and 2022.

Team Europe are four-time Laver Cup champions, winning in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, where Ruud made his Laver Cup debut at TD Garden, defeating Reilly Opelka in the opening match. Captained by Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg, Ruud will be joined by world #4 Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece), #5 Holger Rune (Denmark), and #8 Andrey Rublev (Russia), with two spots remaining on Team Europe.

Team World

This year’s edition of Laver Cup promises to be as competitive as ever, with Team World Captain John McEnroe continuing his epic professional rival with Bjorg. So far, his team has announced three players on his six-man roster: world #9 Taylor Fritz (USA), #10 Frances Tiafoe (USA), and #14 Felix Auger-Aliassime (the top-ranked Canadian).

Bjorg and McEnroe have captained their respective Laver Cup teams through hotly contested battles since the inaugural event, but until last year, Borg’s Team Europe was undefeated.

Each team’s remaining players will be named between now and the start of the US Open.

Named in honour of Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the only twice winner of the calendar-year Grand Slam in 1962 and 1969, the Laver Cup will be played on a black court constructed inside Rogers Arena. Berlin is set as the host city of next year’s tournament.

The Laver Cup is a joint initiative between TEAM8, Tennis Australia, the USTA, and Jorge Paulo Lemann on the ATP Tour calendar.
