From skiing, to mountain biking, to rock climbing and more, get inspired at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF). Their 2023 fall program launches in-person and online on November 14 with over 25 films and 5 speakers.
The Fall Series includes both in-person and online streaming events. Tickets for in-person events are $28 ($23 for early bird tickets). Online events are $18 ($15 early bird). Arc’teryx Snowsports Show

Enjoy four short films that showcase backcountry skiing and snowboarding in Canada. The show includes Slides on the Mountain, which follows two brothers from the Lil’wat Nation who want to gain the skills to ski Ts’zil Peak, an important mountain in their territory. Squamish-based skier Eric Carter will also give a presentation entitled “Mistakes Were Made” about his misadventures on skis.

Watch four climbing films (including two world premieres) and listen to pro climbers Matt Segal, Jesse Huey, and Jordan Cannon tell stories from their free-ascent of the “Cowboy Direct” route on Pakistan’s Nameless Tower.

The two stunning films at this show explore our connection with nature through the perspectives of wildlife photographers and outdoor adventurers. The show also includes a presentation by local hiking guidebook author Taryn Eyton.
Steep and Deep Snow Show

Get stoked for ski season with the six films at this show. The highlights include the world premiere of Modify, which follows three adaptive athletes going deep into Montana’s backcountry and Chronoception which tells the story of a 22-day expedition to the mountains of Kyrgyzstan.
Best of Fall Series

The three films at this show dig deep into community connections to the environment. Keepers of the Land shows the strength of the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation to reclaim their power in the Great Bear Rainforest. People Like Us examines what it is like to be a gay man in a small mountain town. And Yamnuska: The Ragged Edge follows two modern climbers on a journey that celebrates history.
Canadian Bike Night

These six films celebrate cycling in Canada. While bikes provide the common thread, the stories are diverse from raising awareness for mental health through mountain biking in Only in a Ride to bike touring more than 170,000 km around the world in The Slow Lane, to Indigenous women preparing for a race but also thinking of the generations to come in Racing for the Next 7.
