With the return of warmer weather, it’s market season in Vancouver. Shop for fresh produce, handmade goods, delicious food and more from local vendors at farmers’ markets, craft markets, and community markets.

Trout Lake Farmers’ Market

East Vancouver’s Trout Lake Farmers’ Market celebrates its 25th season this year. It’s one of the city’s biggest farmers’ markets with over 60 vendors. The market is open each Saturday between early April and late October. You can find farm-fresh produce, artisan crafts, food trucks, live music, and lots more. The vendor line-up varies a bit each week, so it’s worth making multiple visits.

The gravel path around Trout Lake is a popular place to go for a stroll before or after the market. Or walk a few blocks northwest to Commercial Drive to shop at the boutiques and Italian delis.

The Shipyards Night Market takes place every Friday night between May 10 and September 13. Find the free at the Shipyards District in North Vancouver, just one block east of the Lonsdale Quay.

You can listen to live music and DJs, hang out with friends in the beer garden, grab a snack from one of the food trucks, or browse the stalls at the artisan market. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the incredible views of Burrard Inlet and downtown Vancouver.

Eastside Flea

The Eastside Flea is a community take on a classic flea market. The East Vancouver event specializes in small local vendors selling handmade goods, vintage clothing, plants, collectables, food, and more. They also have food trucks and live music. Their schedule varies with the season, but this spring the market is happening every Saturday and Sunday between April 20 and May 26.

Riley Park Farmers’ Market

The Riley Park Farmers’ Market is held each Saturday between April and October. This is one of Vancouver’s most popular farmers’ markets. The City of Vancouver actually renovated the park a few years ago specifically to provide a better layout for the market. You’ll find over 35 vendors including farmers, food trucks, artisans, prepared food, and lots more. With a rotating vendor line-up, you can check the market website before your visit to find out what to expect. Or just turn up and browse the stalls.

The Riley Park Market is located just a few blocks away from Queen Elizabeth Park. Shop for lunch at the market, then take a walk over to Queen Elizabeth Park to have a picnic. After you eat, be sure to wander through the Quarry Gardens and enjoy the view of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains from outside the Bloedel Conservatory.

Richmond Night Market

The Richmond Night Market is back for its 24th year next to Bridgeport Skytrain Station on the Canada Line. Modelled after outdoor night markets in East Asia, and Hong Kong in particular, the Richmond Night Market is the largest night market in North America. It’s open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights as well as on long weekend Mondays between late April and mid-October. Admission is charged.

Wander through the market to discover fashion, crafts, electronics, and more. The highlight for many visitors is trying street food from all over Asia and around the world. Families will love the bouncy castles and games area.

Got Craft Spring Market

Got Craft has been offering curated markets for local artisans since 2007. This year’s spring market takes place on May 4 and 5 at the Maritime Labour Centre in East Vancouver’s Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood. You’ll find over 80 makers and small businesses. There is even a Mini Makers Market to showcase “kidpreneurs” under the age of 16. If you’re hungry, there will also be food trucks on site.

More Farmers’ Markets

There are several other farmer’ markets around Vancouver. Each one features local artisans, fresh produce, and lots more. The Kitsilano Farmers’ Market runs each Sunday between early May and late October. Each Saturday between mid-May and late October you can visit the West End Farmers’ Market in Downtown Vancouver a few blocks from St. Paul’s Hospital. The Mount Pleasant Farmers’ Market is open each Sunday between mid-May and late October at Guelph Park, nicknamed “Dude Chilling Park”.

Each Wednesday from early June until mid-December you can shop at the Downtown Farmers’ Market in šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. And the False Creek Farmers’ Market is open on Thursdays between early June and early October. Find it in the plaza next to Science World.
