Before summer ends, make time for a fun jaunt together to Britannia Mine Museum! A forty-five minute drive north of Vancouver along the gorgeous Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) takes you to the Museum where there are a host of things to do.

Better yet, on Sunday, September 11, 2016, the Museum is holding their annual Copper & Fire Arts event from 10am to 3pm.

If you’re looking to escape the heat into an air-conditioned, educational space, the Museum of Vancouver’s new exhibit, All Together Now: Vancouver Collectors and Their Worlds, is just the activity for you.

I’ve gone to all of MOV’s recent exhibits and, honestly, this one is my favourite so far. It’s incredibly cool, there are tons of things to see and do, and the history and culture of Vancouver are intertwined throughout the many displays.

A recent game of bocce with my boyfriend reminded me why it’s such a lovely way to spend an hour or so in Vancouver’s beautiful outdoors. It’s leisurely, easily learnt by a newbie, and a fun, interactive activity to do together. With August slipping away, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the sun and the summer warmth!

Here are three different ways to enjoy a game of bocce in the city:

Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is set to launch a brand new season, which the not-for-profit theatre company is calling the “Summer of Love.”

From July 6 to August 20, Vancouver’s TUTS will be running two well-known and swoon inducing musicals on alternating nights: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and West Side Story. My boyfriend and I will be definitely going to at least one of the shows!

During Surreal, I felt like I was deliciously eavesdropping on a conversation as it unfolded. This new play explores romance and twenty-something dilemmas, all in the winding streets and alleys of Gastown. The interactive theatre experience would make for a great date, perhaps preceded or followed by a meal or drink in the area.

My boyfriend grew up in Nova Scotia where his family throws community parties for their small town. We attended one last winter and I loved how everyone was in the kitchen, feasting on home-cooked rustic food, chatting, and having an overall great time together.

Inspired by this East coast tradition, a few restaurants in the city are hosting seafood boils that would make for a fun and tasty night out (as long as you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with good food).

In the summer, I’m a total cultural festival geek. I love the celebration of Vancouver’s diversity, the crowds of happy people that flock to the events, the entertainment, and the absolutely delicious and unique food you can find at them. Plus, they make for great dates in that they’re laid back, inexpensive, and outdoors in the sun (if the weather gods are favourable).

Here are five to look forward to over the next few event-packed months:
