While 2020 has been the year of sticking close to home, sometimes you’ve got to get out of the house! A city staycation can give a chance to celebrate a special occasion, show some love to the city, and not have to worry about cooking for a couple of days.

Vancouver’s hotels are welcoming guests with all COVID-19 health protocols in place, including distancing measures and a “commitment to clean” like no other. I recently spent a weekend at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. I’ve shared my experience and the perks of a city hotel staycation.

Music, circus arts and a giant movable eagle sculpture in a free show at Cathedral Square

Note: Cathedral Flight has been postponed until 2020. Updated Sept 24, 2019. 

Cathedral Flight is a free public show Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. The show takes place at Cathedral Square in downtown Vancouver, at 566 Richards St.

Cathedral Flight mixes circus art, music, dance, and a 60-foot movable eagle sculpture. The show is a celebration of Cathedral Square featuring the structural creations of Peter Boulanger. Find out more below.

Stretch It Out – 9 Easy and Effective Stretches for Travellers

Welcome to Vancouver! You’ve been in a plane, train, or automobile for a while and it’s time to get moving and exploring. Or maybe get to your first meeting/workshop at the Convention Centre. But first, let’s get out all the kinks – travel is hard on the body!

You know what I mean. Stiff neck from sleeping at a weird angle (even with a neck pillow!) Sore back and shoulders from sitting in the awkward seats. Tight legs and hips from sitting too long. Hands and feet feeling heavy. The interesting thing is that you can feel much of the same after playing tourist and being on your feet all day. Go figure.

Widely recognized as an Instagrammable Hotspot, Vancouver is a photographer’s dream! How can we go wrong with spectacular beaches, a growing modern cosmopolitan skyline and a dramatic snowcapped mountain backdrop? In solidarity with my fellow “grammers,” I am constantly on the hunt for that “perfect” shot. Recently, I found myself in the heart of downtown on a beautiful, bright and sunny west coast day. As I casually strolled the city streets, I found myself captivated by a series of fascinating reflections. Voila, immediately in front of me lay a whole new way to envision our magnificent city.
