Things to Do This Weekend in Vancouver: Jan. 19, 2017

Alright, now 2017 is really starting up. This weekend marks the start of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival, the PuSH Festival and the Hot Chocolate Festival. I suggest grabbing some inventive hot chocolate in the morning while you make reservations for an indulgent three-course Dine Out dinner in the evening, and then catching a show after. These festivals only happen once a year, and it’s kind of perfect timing that they all happen together.

Things To Do In Vancouver This Weekend: Jan. 12, 2017

This weekend the winter festivals that began with Solstice and Yule in December continue with Maghi on Friday, celebrated across India for the winter harvest. Friday the 13th is looking anything but unlucky, with art shows, a film festival, a drag show and a virtual flight with a dragon starting up. You can end the weekend with some comedy, symphony, or hockey on Sunday with some David Bowie tributes and wrestling in between on Saturday.

Things to Do in Vancouver this Weekend: Dec. 15, 2016

‘Twas the weekend before Solstice and all through the night, Vancouver started looking forward to the idea of the sun not setting at 3:30 in the afternoon! Hey, it could be worse, – we’ve got pretty lights, and a comfortable dusting of snow (maybe it didn’t feel comfortable last week, but we’ve gotten used to the white stuff now, yes?) and snow happens so rarely around here, let’s just enjoy it before it melts completely. There are a lot of things to get out to this weekend in between the mulled wine and the snow angels.

The holiday classics and the craft markets just keep coming – along with festive things to do both outdoors and indoors. Adding to the many outdoor light displays from the top of North Shore mountains to Vancouver’s waterfront, you can also keep warm while getting into the holiday spirit in the Bloedel Conservatory starting this weekend and pretend, just for a little while, that you are in a tropical climate.

Things To Do In Vancouver This Weekend

The craft markets have started, the East Side Culture Crawl is on, and music is filling venues across the city. The sun sets at about 4:25pm this weekend, and the nights continue to get longer until mid-December, which means there’s lots of time right now for enjoying bright city lights or evening stargazing.
