Going through Games of Thrones withdrawal? Disappointed over the last season, but still hankering for some dragon-y Westeros action?

On June 14 and 15, the Rio Theatre (1660 E. Broadway) brings back Oakland, California’s variety vaudeville troupe Tourettes Without Regrets with a revamped version of its notorious and popular Game of Thrones burlesque. Game of Thrones Live: Fire & Ice, Ice Baby! features dozens of characters played by underground vaudeville and burlesque performers from the award-winning Tourettes Without Regrets as well as local Vancouver stars. According to Rio Theatre owner Corinne Lea, “This year is going to be off the hook!” A huge Night King battle, choreographed by a pro film fight choreographer, is planned, she says. “Plus Burns the Dragon has gone all out and created an incredible costume! This show is really a labour of love for the entire cast so they are going all out for the grand finale!”

With Game of Thrones mania at a fever pitch with the start of Season 7, the time is right for the return of a show that Vancouver can’t seem to get enough of: Game of Thrones Live. The show did so well in its initial 2014 run at the Rio Theatre that it came back the following year.

An NSFW melange of burlesque, comedy, music and the occasional sword fight, Game of Thrones Live is the brainchild of Tourettes Without Regrets. The performers and creators of the long-running Bay Area underground showcase have put together a brand new show for 2017: Game of Thrones: Hodor Rises. The adults-only burlesque show is coming to the Rio for two performances, Aug. 4 & 5.

If April seems to far away and you’re itching for some Game of Thrones action, a new comedy show is happening this weekend to satisfy your GOT cravings for the time-being.

WE KNOW NOTHING: Monologues of Ice & Fire will be running for three nights beginning on Friday the 13th of November (what could possibly go wrong!?) through Sunday, the 15th at the historic Cultch theatre in East Vancouver (1895 Venables Street).

If you’ve never been to The Cultch, this is also a great excuse to visit the beautiful theatre that’s small and intimate without a bad seat in the house.

Westeros comes to Gastown on Tuesday, March 10 from 7 pm at Bambudda when acclaimed San Francisco bartender Matt Grippo brings a Game of Thrones themed cocktail menu pop-up  to the city. “Winter is Coming” at Bambudda will have a special cocktail menu created by Matt and the team from legendary San Francisco bar, the Blackbird. To pair with this, Bambudda’s chef Curtis Luk has designed an All Men Must Dine à la carte bar snack menu. Reservations for “Winter Is Coming” are strongly suggested and can be made either by crow or by telephone at 604-428-0301.  We spoke with Matt to find out more.

So, what inspired this Game of Thrones drinks menu?

I’m a huge fan, and a couple of the other guys at the bar are fans too. We’ve done one-off Game of Thrones drinks before in a menu of 12, then I had an idea to do a 100% Game of Thrones-inspired menu. It was a no-brainer to make it for winter and we launched this menu on December 1st at Blackbird in San Francisco. We thought it would be popular, but it’s really taken off, people seem to get a real kick out of it.  Continue reading:
